Barbary macaques

Barbary macaques are macaques that you encounter on the rock of Gibraltar, but also in many zoos. When they are young, they are small wrinkly little men with large floppy ears. Very funny and cute. Then they become romping little teenagers who play wild games. On nice summer days they like to play in the water. A beautiful sight. Adults are a lot quieter. You often see them enjoying the sun and groom each other on top of a rock.

I have often photographed them in recent years. I also took quite a few photos in 2019. Therefor this post. The first four photos were taken in Apenheul and the last in Naturzoo Rheine in Germany. Two zoos that I find highly recommended for anyone who loves monkeys and primates and likes to see them with lots of freedom and space. Perfect for photography!
