Flowers have company

We have a heat wave in the Netherlands. I am not a fan of very high temperatures. It is vacation, so I give myself a tropical roster. Getting up early (around 5:30 a.m.), afternoon siesta with afternoon nap and to bed late at night. It is wonderful to go outside early with the camera. Yesterday at 8 AM I walked in the zoo in Osnabrück (blog follows). This morning a bit simpeler a bridge to bridge walk along the Overijssels canal.

Again I hoped to photograph butterflies, but unfortunately that did not workout. There were some, but no pictures. However, there were beautiful flowers. And just when I wanted to photograph a beautiful southern marsh orchid, the flower got company. A Common carder bee flew from flower to flower around the orchid. So nice.

The Hedge bindweed was also there in the reed. Many see it as a weed. It is quite annoying when you have it in the garden. But look at itf, is not it a beautiful sight with this goldenrod?

I searched for names in all photos. I am not 100% sure of everything. Do you know better, please let me know 🙂

Alstroemeria

This morning I got up early to go to Fortmond. One of my favorite places along the IJssel. A little disappointed I came home again. I was hoping to shoot some butterflies, but there were only a few of them and I could not take pictures of them. Everything is so dry and brown. If I was a butterfly, I’d also fly to better places. All the heat and drought. Is this our future if we don’t do something about global warming? If you walk around with such thoughts, you are soon on your way back home 🙁
We have to change our way ofliving to save nature and thereby ourselves. It can not go on like this.

Too bad! But I’m not giving up on this Sunday 🙂 There are still flowers in the vase. So I can play! Alstroemeria or also Lily of the Incas. Very strong, they look good very long. Photos from different sides. I’m not too happy with all the pictures. I’ll keep practicing 😛

Smartphone photos

About 10 days ago I was with my mother at Bloemenkwekerij Pot. A beautiful greenery with lots of flowers for the garden. When I go out with my mother, I don’t take my camera. But of course I could not resist making a few photos with my phone (Samsung Galaxy 7 edge). And again it turns out that you can also make beautiful photos with a smartphone. Macros of flowers always look much better than expected. So you see that when you start with photography, you can do that with a phone. Only when you know exactly what you want is that it makes sense to buy a more expensive camera with a specific lens.

Passion

If I ever go bankrupt, it is probably because I buy too many flowers 😛 Every time I see special shapes I’m lost. Passion flowers are very special and these are in white. It is the first time that I came across the sale in a different color than blue. Now that there are flowers open, I’m on it like a hawk with the camera. The first photos. I am looking for light photos with the right amount of contrast. I have not quite found it yet I think. Now you know why my website has this subtitle: My creative explorations.

Flower play

The title of this blog is Flower play. I gave it that title because I play with flowers. Playing is here: searching for a special image of a flower, by playing with light, depth of field and direction of the photo. I regularly buy flowers, usually not a bouquet, but single flowers. Only flowers that inspire me, where I can imagen some photos immediately. They often have special forms, such as the protea below. But often they are well-known flowers that I just like, such as roses, freesias, anemones, etc.

The first picture is a photo of the complete protea. Not everyone knows flowers and in the following recordings the flower may no longer be recognizable.

First, simply straight from above. The color has not changed. The flower is in a vase on a white surface.

The photo below is my personal favorite. I like the shapes, the contrast and the color of this one.

I submitted four photos in a Viewbug contest. Subject is Yellow. So one thing is certain, the color is OK
