Monochrome monkey babies

Babies, what’s more beautiful …? It does not matter whether it is human or animal babies. It’s all cute. I am a big fan of primates and monkeys. I can watch them for hours. If there are also little ones, then it becomes extra special. I share new edits of a number of monkey babies. Hopefully you will enjoy this as much as I did when I took the picture. Under each photo you can see in which zoo the photo was taken.

Mike & Co

Recently I went to Dierenpark Amersfoort again. They have beautiful animals. This time it was I enjoyed it a lot as usual. My absolute favorite in Amersfoort is Mike. Mike is a now alderlychimpanzee with a beautiful appearance. In 2015 I made my favorite photo of him (the last photo in this blog). Meanwhile the years are starting to count, I think. He is very calm and I have only seen action when there was something to eat.

Mike was the leader of the group in the past. He is still a full member of the group, but a son is now the new leader. There are chimpanzees of different ages in the group. The youngest is Wingu. A grandson of Mike.

I share a number of photos that I took. The first is one from Mike. This was the only good photo I made during my last visit. He was constantly right behind the window. Maintenance was carried out in front of the enclosure. He made a complete study of al the activity.

A photo of Wingu. He always has something naughty about him. I love it 🙂

It looks like a contemplation. I am always early and the chimpanzees are not really awake when I am there. Hence a number of photos that radiate tranquility.

A photo of Mike from 2015. He collected his favorite snack. It looks like it is smoking. So funny!

Black-capped squirrel monkey

A collection of photos of Bolivian squirrel monkeys, all taken in the Apenheul. They look very sweet and cute, but also very naughty and cheeky. They are the main reason why you get monkey free bags at the entrance of Apenheul.

I conclude with a photo that was taken by another visitor with a cell phone. I wanted a close-up of a photo and got something more than I expected.

Youngsters

Selection of photos made in the Apenheul. I think wednesday was my last visit of 2018. Again I loved every minute of it. The weather was amazing. Not to many visitors. Perfect! My photos weren’t all the way I hope they would be. Especially shoting the orangutan I thought: why don’t I have a better lens, more zoom?! I hope I will ne able to buy one before next spring/summer. Who knows? I might have to try and buy a winning lottery ticked. Any tips for that? 😛

Not all photos were shot yesterday. All are young monkeys/primates in the Apenheul.

Twins

It was national news: twins born in the Apenheul. Golden lion tamarins. Wow! I did not expect to see them, but I did see them. The family runs around freely in the park and is very visible. So sweet! Making good pictures of it is not easy. It would be nice to see two cups looking into the camera. That did not work out. But I made the following pictures.

For golden lion tamarins getting twins is very normal. This couple also had twins last year. “Big” brother and sister are also in the trees. The nice thing is that the whole family helps to raise the kids. Both mom and dad wear them on their backs. When they sleep, that often is on one of the parent, but when they are awake they are also split up.

The whole family is very talkative. There is constant peeping and calling. The little ones also participate. This way the group knows where everyone is. This is of course very useful if you belong in a jungle.

No matter how small the monkeys are, they are quite large in relation to the parents. A lot of weight to carry around while you climb and jump through the trees. Adults weigh only about 600 grams.
