Today the weather forecast gave me mixed feelings: temperature 31º C. I am not a fan of such temperatures and immediately opt for a special schedule for tropical days for today. For today that meant that I went for an early walk at Fortmond. One of my favorite places to go. The temperature was great and at that time you hardly encounter anyone. Wonderful!
When I parked my car, I didn’t believe my eyes. In recent years I have made several attempts to photograph the pheasants, but I have always heard them without seeing them. Every time I walked in the direction of the sound, the bird was gone. And today there is just one passing by over the clearing where I parked the car. I have taken as many photos as possible. I probably won’t get another chance like that.
On the route that I walked today are several older houses. One of them has a wonderful old-fashioned flower garden. It is full of bins and all kind of flowers climb lush over a hedge, etc. Photography paradise! There was a fair amount of wind, so not all photos were successful. I share carnations and a poppy.
What was striking was that there were very few butterflies. This has been different in recent years. Today I only saw 3 butterflies. A cabbage white, a Blue and a Small copper. I find that worrying. At this time of year there should be a lot in a nature reserve full of flowers.
