Capuchin monkeys are small monkeys that live in the rainforests of Central and South America. They have a distinctive coat on their heads that resembles a monk’s hood, hence their name. Capuchin monkeys are very smart and curious. They sometimes use stones to crack nuts or branches to catch insects. They live in groups with a clear leader and communicate with sounds, facial expressions and gestures. These monkeys are good at climbing and explore their surroundings with their agile fingers and tails. They are an interesting subject for scientists because of their social behavior and problem-solving skills.
There are 12 different species. What is particularly striking is that they all have different colors. They are very active and enterprising, but often look very serious. They have a somewhat dark look.
The photos I share were taken in 2 different zoos. They are only two species. See the text below the photos.
