Gyasi and baby Kiango

Kiango

Finally the time has come, we can go to zoos in the Netherlands again and now also to Germany. But after six months I will stay in the Netherlands for the time being. I have now thoroughly enjoyed it. Including 2 times in the Apenheul.

Before the entire covid period, I had planned to photograph differently. Not just portraits anymore, but also the whole animal. Also interaction, action and the environment where it is. I have now picked it up again. It’s already visible in the photos I’m sharing now. I will always keep zooming in on the beautiful faces. But there is so much more to see.

The Apenheul is beautifully green, fresh green. Lots of tall grass. The gorillas have a nice area. But sometimes it is a bit difficult to get the main attraction in the picture. Kiango, the bright spot that was born in February in the Apenheul. The 50th gorilla baby born in the year that the Apenheul exists 50 years. How special that! So wonderful that little one that is very lovingly cared for by mother Gyasi. I filled up one and a half memory card. I share a small selection of this beautiful duo:   Gyasi and baby Kiango

Thanks again for the way you apprehend apes and how clearly you show their humanity which I find so touching. Thanks.
